What is Pilates?

Pilates came about in the 1920’s and is named after its creator Joseph Pilates.
Pilates developed his own method of physical treatment, incorporating specific breathing techniques along
with controlled movement to help him overcome illness he had suffered since he was a child. 
 
A Pilates class incorporates a combination of low impact exercise that concentrates on strengthening
the body with an emphasis on core strength, posture alignment, balance and flexibility 
 
It has been proven that by practicing Pilates at least once a week it can bring an overall feeling of wellbeing
